New approaches for the treatment of malignant mesothelioma are being tested. Often combine traditional treatments, or something completely new. It is

* Drugs

o L-NDDP (Platar): intrapleural administration of this product is platinum for toxicity and drug resistance currently limiting the use of platinum drugs like cisplatin. Note: A recent study has produced two patients in remission.

o endostatin has been shown that the destruction of a tumor Angiostatin the ability to develop blood vessels, not normal cells.

o Lovastatin is a cholesterol medicine in a recent study, may inhibit cell growth of mesothelioma cancer.

o intrapleural interferon gamma is the direct management of the fight against cancer drug interferon gamma.

* Photodynamic therapy kills cancer cells with light energy.

* Cancer Immunotherapy treated using the immune system in the fight against the disease.

* Gene therapy of cancer treated with the compensation of deficits, genetics can develop tumors. A September 1999 study found that interferon interleukin prevents the growth of mesothelioma cells in mice.

Research on various cancer centers in the United States.
